Championship Show Committee

The Supreme Championship Show, which will be celebrating its 40th year in 2011, is arguably the most important event in the donkey showing  calendar, and one where you can quailfy for any of the  In Hand Championships by winning an in hand class on the day or by pre-qualifying at one of the  80 plus affiliated shows held in conjunction with agricultural shows and dedicated donkey shows nationwide.

The committee is responsible for planning and staging the event, seeking approval for all aspects through the Donkey Breed Society Council and bringing together at one venue, a  full programme of  In Hand Showing, culminating in the awarding of the title  'Supreme Champion Donkey' for the year;    a full programme of Driving Classes with all aspects of this skill being displayed and tested, culminating in the awarding of the title 'Supreme Driving Donkey';   and a full programme of In Hand and Ridden classes for Junior members under the age of 16 years, culminating in the awarding of 'Junior Ridden Champion' and  'Junior Young Handler' titles.

Add to these a mix of dressage and training classes, costume classes, and fun classes, and a Service of Blessing which takes place on the Sunday morning,  and you have a programme that spreads over one and a half days that has something for everyone, and which has been recognised by the Worshipful Company of Saddlers through their annual awards scheme.
