The Donkey Breed Society is affiliated to the British Driving Society who have encouraged donkey driving on equal terms with other equines.
The Driving Committee looks after the needs of all members who drive their donkeys, whether it be competitively or socially, and organises seminars and training days devoted to driving education; actively encouraging society members and in hand judges to enhance their driving knowledge.

An annual National Driving Day was designated in 2000 to encourage everyone to get out and enjoy a drive or some activity in company with donkey drivers on one day of the year. Details of this all donkey driving shows, events, and days of interest are posted on the 'Driving Calendar'
