Society Stud Book

The Donkey Breed Society has held Mother Stud Book Status for the Donkey since 1994, and has the most comprehensive database of donkeys in the United Kingdom.  Through a stringent process of registration and recording we are able to produce data for any donkey registered with the Donkey Breed Society since 1974, and have a stock of published stud book volumes available, listing all registered donkeys for any year since then.

The Stud Book Committee advises the Donkey Breed Society Council on the adoption of breed standards, and consider and regulate rules and recommendations devised to protect as far as is possible, the donkey from irresponsible breeding, and practises that could be detrimental to the breed
In 2003 the Donkey Breed Society was authorised by DEFRA as a Passport Issuing Organisation, and issues passports for all donkeys, whether there is know breeding on not,  hybrids and  zebra and
unregistered horses and ponies
