Is your donkey Microchipped?

Donkeys whose passports were issued before 1st July 2009 did not have to be microchipped, but legislation has recently passed through UK Parliament which requires that all equines are now identifiable by a microchip inserted in the crest of the neck.

If your donkey is one of the many without a transmitting microchip you must have one inserted by 2020, referred to in the legislation as ‘Retrospective Microchipping’

Time for action; next time your veterinary surgeon is making a routine visit ask them to come equipped to insert a microchip, have the barcode sticker added to your passport on the silhouette page, and inform your passport issuing organisation of the reading.
