Educational Visit to Bishop Burton
Three groups of students attending Bishop Burton University Centre in Beverley following equine courses had classes last week focussing on the differences between donkeys and horses, a topic rarely covered in such courses. After short classroom sessions with Allison Roberts, each group met real live donkeys, many of them for the first time – Marie Bates of Long Ears Donkey Centre, home of Blackberry Donkeys in Cleveland brought Teddy and Joseph so the students could see these differences up close. Marie aided by son Thomas allowed everyone to handle the boys and answered all the questions fired at them. Teddy, the Mediterranean miniature, and Joseph had impeccable manners the whole time, standing in the indoor school for four hours! They melted lots of hearts (including those of many staff members who couldn’t resist stealing into the arena to meet the boys).
