Northern Ireland Passport Changes

It is now a DAERA requirement to register the Equine Establishment Number (EEN) with the passport.

This means we are no longer able to issue Basic ID passports for Donkeys living in Northern Ireland, these must now be carried out by a Northern Ireland-based PIO, currently the Northern Ireland Horse Board or Showjumping Ireland Association (Ulster Region) for donkeys.

We may continue to issue extended passports under the provisions of Assimilated Regulation (EU) 2016/1012, which allows recognised breed societies to operate on a UK-wide basis. This means we can only issue Pure Bred/Parentage registered passports to Donkeys living in Northern Ireland and an Equine Unique Number (EEN) must be provided for recording at the time of Application.

Further any transfer of ownership or replacement passport required for an ID-only animal resident in Northern Ireland must be undertaken by a DAERA-authorised Passport Issuing Organisation (PIO). We would be greatful if you could advise us via email to dbspassports@outlook.com if you are applying for a transfer so that we can update our details and a replacement so that we can cancel our existing passport.
