Championship Show 2023
DASHING DONKEYS DOMINATE AT UK 50 th CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
They came from all over the United Kingdom for this was no ordinary Championship Show,
this was the ‘50 th Championship Show of the Donkey Breed Society’. Held at Moreton
Morrell College, Warwickshire on Saturday 19 th August, there were seven In-Hand
Championship classes before the Supreme Champion could be crowned, it was a very
exciting day. Alongside this, there were four Championship Driving events and two Junior
Championship classes along with a host of further competitions.
The coveted title of Supreme In-hand Champion went to the beautiful Perehill Magical
Moments, exhibited by Linda Chilton, owners: John McLaren and Linda Chilton, from near
Wallingford in Oxfordshire. In-hand Reserve Champion went to the gorgeous Blue Manor
Monte Carlo, exhibited and owned by Mrs Lorraine Rae from Bamburgh, Northumberland.
Supreme Driving Champion went to Habanero, owner and whip Mrs D. Street (Cheshire).
2023 Champion Young Rider and Champion Young Handler was Olivia Mingham with
Toadflax of Brownroad owned by Mrs O. Brown (Cheshire).
Donkey Breed Society Chair, Mrs Rosemary Clarke, said, ‘this has been a marvellous event.
As ever, turnout was of a very high standard and members came from far and wide. The
donkeys were the stars of the Show and so too an ever-increasing Junior membership
keenly showing their donkeys to visitors to the Show’.
